Jackson-Schnyder Nature Preserve Volunteer Work Day

The Ouabache Land Conservancy invites all nature enthusiasts to participate in a land management workday at the Jackson-Schnyder Nature Preserve. The preserve is a 15 acre tract of forest and tallgrass prairie that is near a major road, a railroad and several private properties.  Because of its location, JSNP encounters challenges with litter and invasive species.  To help keep our land beautiful, OLC will host a workday on Saturday, September 23 at 9 AM. Anyone is welcome to join us for this event, where we will focus on removing invasive plant species, such as bush honeysuckle, multiflora rose and burning bush. If you plan to attend, please email Evan Boyer, Vice President for Programs and Development, at e.boyer13@yahoo.com so we are sure we have enough resources for all participants. Please also bring work gloves, long pants, water, and a positive attitude. A relief of liability form will be required to sign to participate at the event. The preserve is located at 1100 W. Concannon Ave., West Terre Haute, IN 47885. To get to the Jackson-Schnyder Nature Preserve, take Hwy 150 to St. Mary’s Ave and turn west, drive past the St. Mary-of-the-Woods College main entrance, continue west and turn left on Bloomtown Road, go under the railroad and turn right on Concannon Ave. Just past the bridge is the roadside entrance (on the right) to the Preserve. Thanks for doing your part to keep our land beautiful!
